This is fascinating! I was under the assumption that a total novice with some guts could play around and figure out how to muddle through. Though, thinking about the complexities of how aircraft work, I could see how that’s not the case. Feels a bit like the Dunning-Kreuger effect, where someone who knows a *little* Read more

I’ve always wondered this. It seems like it would be at least partly intuitive, the same way most folks can navigate a bicycle, car, or motorcycle without knowing the intricacies of the mechanics. I’m with you, though — would not want to test that theory on myself! Read more

All true! At the very least, this guy understood some basic mechanics, and had a healthy sympathy for the machine. That probably made it a LOT easier for the pilot at the other end of the radio to talk him through it. Read more

I think we can chalk his success up to “having a cool head in a high-pressure situation,” which is a cousin of common sense ... and also, not very common. Read more

I liked it in person way more than in photos. It’s simple, in a very good way. Read more

This does a good job of showing the wheelspin with either transmission. I thought it made the car fun in a teenage sort of way, but you can definitely tell that there’s more potential in it with a proper set of tires.  Read more

Yeah... I had a good 4" of rearward seat travel left, but I think you’d run into a headroom problem. When I drove the track portion with a helmet on, I had to adjust the seat down to keep from grazing the headliner. But it might be worth test-fitting it! I don’t think there’s any chance in hell you’d fit in a Supra, Read more

Sorta. There are only 2 trims and no individual options. You either get the base model with 18" wheels, cloth seats, smaller touchscreen, etc. etc., or you get the Performance model, with all the luxury/tech doodads plus 19s, bigger brakes, and LSD. One assumes Nissan did this to get a model in under $40,000 while Read more
