These Were the Most Recalled Automakers of 2022

Recalls happen to every automaker. It just so happens that some get hit harder than others.

Building cars is a difficult business. I wouldn’t even dare to say otherwise, and it’s always difficult to get things right the first go around. That’s why we are taking a look at the which automakers faced the toughest slate of manufacturer recalls this year.

I’ll jump to the chase: It wasn’t pretty for Ford. The company had over twice the number of potentially impacted vehicles as the next closest brand. Over 17 percent of every car it produced for 2022 were recalled at some point.

I’ll be honest. It was a rough year for the Blue Oval. The company had far and away the most recalls out of any other OEM. Anyway, the company’s biggest recall of the year potentially impacted 2,925,968 vehicles because they could roll away when parked. That single recall accounts for more impacted vehicles than all but three other manufacturers (not including Ford itself).
