We're glad to see that Fiat's cloth-roofed 500c has gotten an injection of Abarth. Because if there's anything that's cooler than a sporty little car, it's a sporty little car that lets in lots of sunshine.
Fiat unveiled its topless Abarth today at the L.A. Auto Show. The 500c Abarth has the same 160 hp 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo mill as the regular hatchback, and also benefits from sporty body moldings and black and red leather seats.
The difference is the cloth roof, which peels back all the way to the rear spoiler under 60 mph. I can't imagine why they wouldn't just let you drive around top all the way down at 80, but maybe there's some engineering thing about the roof ripping off and ending up flapping in the wind like Grace Kelley's scarf.
Regardless, this version of the 500 looks cool and we can't wait to take it for a spin.
