Sure, sub-4-second runs over a quarter-mile are old hat in Top Fuel drag racing, but the barrier had never been broken in the Funny Cars until this weekend, when Matt Hagan drove a 3.995 run at 316 mph.
Two other national drag-racing records fell during the event this weekend at zMAX Dragway in North Carolina, thanks to a new track surface and weather that put cool, dense air right above the starting line, wit the Top Fuel dragster driven by Tony Schumacher breaking its class speed record with 327.90 mph. How fast do they go before no one can see the race anymore?
